Transformation succeeds with us.
RAG Austria AG has been shaping the Austrian energy landscape for 90 years and, with its focus on providing demand-based services and products, looks back and ahead to an evolutionary development in the energy landscape.
Starting from RAG's roots in oil and gas production, we have developed into one of Europe's largest energy storage operators: reliable, secure and flexible. Today, RAG stands for “Renewables and Gas”.
RAG stands for 'Renewables and Gas'. We see ourselves as enablers who are acting as a link between renewables and security of supply – in the past and in the future.

A green energy future succeeds with us.
For ten years, RAG has been dedicated to hydrogen as an energy carrier in order to make renewable electricity available on a large scale and supply secure. This makes it possible to bring the summer sun into the winter.
“The only way to make a large part of the energy mix greener is to use hydrogen as an energy source.”

Energy security succeeds with us.
With gas storage capacities of around 6.4 billion m³, RAG's energy storage facilities are indispensable for security of supply in Austria and Europe.
“Large-volume energy storage in underground porous reservoirs creates security of supply.”

Innovative use of gas succeeds with us.
Due to its flexibility, natural gas, which can be used in a variety of ways, is an important partner for a sustainable energy system. With the innovative “methane electrolysis” technology, we split natural gas and produce hydrogen and the raw material carbon.
“Natural gas is not only a high-energy source of energy, but also an indispensable raw material for the chemical industry.”

Using crude oil for non-energy related applications succeeds with us.
The sustainable, regional production of crude oil as a valuable resource is essential for the secure supply of raw materials for non-energy related applications and makes an important economic contribution.
“Crude oil is far too valuable to burn it. We should use it carefully and economically.”
