A model region for year-round climate-neutral energy supply and use of natural gas without CO2 emissions
Climate protection and security of supply as well as CO2-neutral energy supply for regions and metropolitan areas under one roof is the focus of the project and the model region „RAG Energy Valley“ in Krift near Kremsmünster.
The focus is on a perfect interplay between production, conversion, storage and use of green energy and important raw materials. Summer electricity from the sun is made storable by converting it into hydrogen to store it and then use it as heat and electricity in winter. This will create in Upper Austria a center for a CO2-neutral energy future which will also provide the solution for a secure, year-round and green energy supply for large metropolitan areas such as Vienna, Graz or Linz.
Another advantage of the „RAG Energy Valley“ in Krift: Added value creation remains in the Region and the business location is strengthened.
